Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery) in Tampa, FL

Do you have wrinkled upper or lower eyelid skin or excessive sagging? If yes, then you may be an ideal candidate for eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty. This is helpful if there is excess skin on your upper eyelid which interferes with your vision, or if you have lost the natural crease of your upper eyelid. Eyelid surgery (eyelift) may also be suggested if there are puffy pouches of fat on either the lower or upper eyelids which result in an aged or tired appearance. Dr. Soler serves many patients in the greater Tampa Bay Area, including those in Clearwater and St. Petersburg.

How is blepharoplasty surgery performed?

Eyelid surgery is meant to add a more rested and youthful appearance to the eyes. If your vision field is partially blocked due to excessive skin on the upper eyelid, this surgery may also widen your vision. Dr. Soler performs blepharoplasty under general anesthesia. Any mild discomfort can be controlled by oral medication Dr. Soler will prescribe to you. It may take a week or two for any bruises or sensitivity to completely diminish post surgery. Any swelling also disappears during the same time frame. Once the sutures are removed, you can begin using eye makeup as well.

Is blepharoplasty covered by insurance?

Blepharoplasty is considered a cosmetic procedure and is not covered by insurance, so you are responsible for the payments. However, if you get your eyelid surgery done and it improves your vision field, you may be able to get insurance to cover some of the surgery. It is advisable to check any specific suitability and risk related queries during your consultation with Dr. Soler at his Tampa office. It is important to keep in mind all surgical procedures do have some degree of risk involved. Though it is rare to face any major complications, minor ones that do not hamper the outcome of your blepharoplasty surgery do occur occasionally.
