Am I a Good Candidate for Thigh Lift Surgery?

Thighplasty, more commonly known as a thigh lift, is a body contouring procedure used to tighten and enhance the overall appearance of the thighs. At Soler Cosmetic Plastic Surgery, we are proud to offer this procedure to our clients who wish to correct their sagging thighs. Today, we’d like to share with you how to tell if you’re a good candidate for thigh lift surgery.

You’re at a Relatively Stable Weight

The best candidates for thigh lift surgery are at a relatively stable weight. Most people who benefit from this procedure have sagging skin around their thighs because they have lost a significant amount of weight. We recommend that you maintain your weight for a set amount of time before having this procedure. If you regain the weight and lose it again, your skin may once again become lax, negating the effects of the procedure.

You Have Excess Soft Tissue

Most people who seek thigh lift surgery have an excess of soft tissue along the lateral (outer) thigh region or the medial (inner) thigh. Besides tightening loose skin, excess fat is removed during this procedure. If you have a significant amount of fat that needs to be removed, liposuction of the inner or outer thigh may be performed along with your thigh lift.

You Have Realistic Goals

To be a good candidate for thigh lift surgery, you need to understand what this procedure can and cannot do and have realistic expectations about the results. If your only problem areas are your upper inner thighs, you will need a medial thigh lift to remove the fat and tighten the skin on the upper inner thigh. An inner thigh lift is used to correct sagging skin in the lower portion of your inner thigh.

If your problem areas are the front and outside of your thighs, another type of thigh lift will be required to achieve your goals. In some instances, a thigh lift alone won’t be able to give you the results you want. In that case, you may need a body lift. In other words, you may need your entire thigh and buttocks lifted.

You are in Good General Health

To be a good candidate for a thigh lift, you need to be in good general health. If you have an active infection or are otherwise seriously ill, you’ll have to wait until you get better to seek this procedure. Certain medications can affect the outcome of your procedure. You’ll need to avoid taking certain medications in the weeks before your procedure.
