How to prepare for lip injections?
There are many dos and do nots for every procedure and Dr. Soler will inform you of each precaution you need to take. Here are some basic rules to follow for the best results:
- DO tell your doctor about your goals
- DO have realistic expectations
- DO apply ice after the treatment
- DO let Dr. Soler know if you’ve recently had cold sores
- DON’T massage your lips after treatment
- DON’T use aspirin before the treatment
- DON’T have your treatment right before a big event, in case you experience swelling or bruising
- DON’T expect the enhancement to last forever. These treatments need to be repeated.
Are lip injections painful?
Most patients report these injections are virtually painless. However, every person experiences pain differently and some people are more sensitive than others. Dr. Soler uses Juvederm® and Restylane® products. Both products contain lidocaine, a numbing agent that helps minimize any discomfort.
What should I expect after my lip injections?
You will see results almost immediately after your lip injections. There may be some swelling directly after the procedure, so give your body at least 24 hours to settle before the results truly show. There is no downtime after lip augmentation and you can return to most daily activities immediately, but it is important to avoid rigorous exercise directly afterwards. Do not massage or apply direct pressure to your lips for at least 24 hours. Lip augmentation through injections will last approximately six months and needs to be redone in order to achieve fullness. The more you receive the injections, the better long term results you will see.
