Teenagers are not the only ones who suffer with acne and acne scarring. Many adult men and women struggle with acne, turning to medical professionals for help when over-the-counter products fail to correct the problem. Dr. Soler uses the icon laser for acne treatments and performs all the procedures himself. Dr. Soler serves patients in Tampa, Clearwater, St. Petersburg and all the surrounding areas of Southwest FL.
How are acne treatments performed?
Dr. Soler uses laser treatments to deal with both acne and acne scarring. Laser treatments are the most effective way to deal with scars and the hyperpigmentation left behind when the skin heals from an acne breakout. The laser is not only helpful in lightening the scar, but can also be beneficial in controlling inflammatory acne. Dr. Soler will use the icon laser to treat acne and acne scars. This procedure is performed in the office with no downtime. Patients are prescribed an EMLA cream to numb the treatment area. The pulsed lasers work by heating up the targeted tissue, without actually destroying it. The heat stimulates the body’s collagen production to fill in unwanted skin imperfections, such as fine lines or wrinkles. Usually, the area treated is covered in ointment and healing is completed within a week or two. The skin may have a slight redness or pink color for about a month, and can last up to 6 months. Once the healing period of two weeks is over, you can begin wearing makeup. It is important to schedule a consultation with Dr. Soler to discuss your goals, so he can create a customized plan for you based on your unique needs.
How do I prepare for acne treatments?
Dr. Soler will tailor your acne treatment plan to meet your overall needs. He may use personalized skincare products before and after a laser skin resurfacing treatment. These skincare products and routines are customized to you and are chosen based on need, age, desired results and your individual healing process. Before your acne treatments try to avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, tanning creams, dermal fillers or injectables, waxing or laser hair removal treatments for at least two to three weeks.
How much do acne treatments cost?
Acne treatments and acne scar treatments are considered cosmetic procedures and are not covered under insurance. Any risks or individual suitability of acne scar treatments must be discussed directly with Dr. Soler during the initial consultation. Pricing is dependent on your specific needs and your individualized treatment plan. This will be discussed with you during your consultation so you can make an informed decision about how to financially attain your goals.
