Have you always wanted a curvier figure with a more shapely backside? You may think this is achievable by doing endless squats in the gym, but that may not produce the results you’re looking for. An effective way to enhance your buttocks and get a more flattering figure is by having a Brazilian butt lift.
The Brazilian butt lift removes excess fat from your problem areas and uses it to increase the volume of your butt. This creates more of an hourglass shape, giving you the figure you’ve been striving for.
At Soler Cosmetic Plastic Surgery, we provide Brazilian butt lift procedures. Learn more about this treatment from these frequently asked questions:
What Is BBL Surgery?
Also known as a BBL, the Brazilian butt lift is a plastic surgical procedure that aims to improve your overall figure by enhancing your buttocks. During a BBL, liposuction is used to harvest fat from your problem areas. This fat is then injected into your backside to give a larger, curvier appearance.
The Brazilian butt lift is essentially a two-in-one procedure that removes stubborn fat and increases buttock volume in one surgery.
Are You a Candidate for the Brazilian Butt Lift?
If you are unhappy with how your backside looks, you may be a candidate for Brazilian butt lift surgery. Some patients seeking BBL treatment want to shrink their waistline and enhance their butt after pregnancy-related weight fluctuations. Others want to improve their figure in ways they cannot achieve with exercise.
To have a Brazilian butt lift, you must be at least 18 years old and in overall good health. The best way to determine whether you are an ideal candidate is with a consultation appointment.
During your consultation, we will go over the procedure, discuss your cosmetic goals, and evaluate your current figure. This information can help us confirm if a BBL is the right choice to meet your needs.
Who Performs BBL Surgery?
Since the BBL is considered to be a cosmetic procedure, Brazilian butt lift surgeries are always performed by plastic surgeons. The BBL must be completed by a quality plastic surgeon in order to yield the best results.
Is a Brazilian Butt Lift Performed Under Anesthesia?
BBL surgery is performed under general anesthesia for optimal comfort. This means you will be completely asleep during the entire procedure.
You will need to receive medical clearance from your regular physician before having a BBL performed. The purpose of medical clearance is to confirm that you are healthy enough to be put under anesthesia.
What Happens During a Brazilian Butt Lift?
The Brazilian butt lift begins with the process of harvesting necessary fat cells. To do this, small incisions will be made wherever excess fat is present. For most patients, this is around the stomach or abdomen. Through each small incision, a thin cannula will be inserted to gently suction away the fat cells.
Once all of the required fat has been harvested, it will be processed and then injected into the buttocks and around the hips. This is done in a calculated and strategic manner that creates more of an hourglass shape.
When the desired shape is reached, your incisions will be closed with tiny sutures or surgical adhesive, and you will be transferred to our aftercare area.
How Long Does BBL Surgery Take?
The exact duration of your Brazilian butt lift depends on your specific needs, but most BBL surgeries fall somewhere between two to three hours.
When Can You Go Home After Your BBL?
Most patients are able to go home the same day their surgery is performed. You will need to remain in our aftercare area for several hours after surgery for post-op monitoring.
Once you are fully awake and can walk on your own, you can be discharged to go home. If necessary, you may be asked to remain overnight for additional monitoring.
Will You See Results Right Away?
In the weeks following your BBL surgery, swelling and bruising will occur around your buttocks and wherever fat was harvested. This makes it difficult to see the final result of your procedure. Once the bruising and swelling subside about four to six weeks later, you should be able to see the outcome of your treatment.
What Is Recovery Like After a Brazilian Butt Lift?
Recovery from a Brazilian butt lift takes several weeks. You may feel increased soreness and fatigue in the first week following your surgery.
You will need to wear compression dressings after your procedure. These provide increased support while your skin, muscles, and other tissues are most vulnerable after treatment. Your dressings can be removed about one week to ten days post-surgery.
For about six to eight weeks after surgery, you will need to avoid direct impact to your buttocks. When sitting, you should not sit directly on your bottom but rather lean to either side or sit on a modified cushion.
You will need to avoid strenuous activity or exercise during this time. Before you can resume these activities, your surgeon should clear you.
